Arsenal target wide reinforcements

It is clear that a winger is top of Mikel Arteta’s priority list come next summer, if reports are to be believed.

The Gunners have been linked with Club Brugge’s Noa Lang as well as Villareal’s Yeremy Pino, although the Spanish starlet has since signed a new contract.

However, the link that has seemed most credible is that to Juventus wide man Dejan Kulusevski, having been reported by reputable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 21-year-old Swede has made just two starts for the Old Lady this campaign, being left largely to come off the bench to affect games. Blessed with a brilliant left-foot and plenty of pace, he would certainly add something different to Arsenal’s attacks should they opt to pursue him, although he would join Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe and Martin Odegaard as left-footed attackers in the squad.

Pepe offered in exchange?

Now, as per Sports Witness, citing Italian site TuttoJuve, The Gunners have made their first move, offering Juventus a swap deal that would see Nicolas Pepe head to Turin in exchange for Kulusevski.

Given that Arsenal splashed out on Pepe to the tune of 72 million pounds, it would be a shocking admission of failure should he have departed in exchange for the 35 million pound valuation of Kulusevski, but it is perhaps a more damning indictment of his Arsenal career that Juventus have allegedly turned down the offer, stating that they want a cash-only deal.

The Juve man has been operating as a second striker at times for Max Allegri’s side this season, and it is perhaps here, rather than on the wing, that Arteta would look to utilise the Swede.

Should this be a deal that Arsenal look to pursue, or are there better options available elsewhere?
