French hitman Mbappe, of course, has long been tipped to take his talents to the Spanish capital.

This comes with the 23-year-old’s current Paris Saint-Germain terms due to come to an end in the summer, and both the board at the Bernabeu and Mbappe himself understood to be keen to join forces.

The widespread assumption, though, has long been that if Real ultimately do enough to land PSG’s prolific young attacker, that a deal for another of the continent’s finest talents – Erling Haaland – will be off the table.

A major scrap is expected to erupt over hitman Haaland’s services upon the conclusion of the campaign, when a cut-price release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract will become active.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest comments on the part of Javier Tebas are anything to go by, then not only do Los Blancos remain in the race for the goalscoring sensation, but they are in fact favourites to strike a deal.

Speaking on Thursday, La Liga chief Tebas’ cited the financial ‘ruin’ of fellow Super League outfits Barcelona and Juventus as key to opening the door for Real to ‘get Mbappe and Haaland’:

Etihad bound?

Interestingly, word of Haaland potentially taking his talents to Spain comes fresh on the back of another of European football’s heavyweights being tipped as frontrunners to land the Norwegian.

The outfit in question? Manchester City.

Citing inside information, Football Insider report that Pep Guardiola, a keen admirer of Haaland’s talents, will be backed in any requested pursuit of the Dortmund standout by the Sky Blues hierarchy come the summer.

Not only that, but Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge, who lined out on the blue half of Manchester during his own playing days, is understood to be pushing his son towards a move to the Etihad.
