The Mandalorian Season 3: Release date and time, episodes, cast and more

The Mandalorian season 3 – out now on Disney+ Hotstar – marks the return of the Star Wars series after a two-year hiatus, during which our protagonists Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu/Baby Yoda played roles as foreground in The Book of Boba Fett. This new chapter picks up right after the pair reunite, with the lovable Grogu wanting to ditch Jedi training with Luke Skywalker (an aging Mark Hamill), in favor of spending time with Mando. Not to mention that Djarin now wields the Darksaber, an ancient black-bladed lightsaber, whose mysterious curse has far-reaching implications for the fate of the planet Mandalore.

Our heroes are heading this time for an interstellar journey to Mandalore, a planet that has suffered many great wars and conflicts among the tribes that inhabit it. Creator Jon Favreau suggests that in The Mandalorian Season 3, we’ll see the desolate wasteland it became after The Great Mandalorian Purge, where they came into conflict with the First Galactic Empire. “It’s kind of a tragic history that this planet has, but also a romantic take on what it once was,” Favreau told Total Film. “We inherited the drawings from Dave (Filoni) and his team, and then we wanted to show what happened and we made some allusions to the Purge of Mandalore; in The Book of Boba Fett, we show a montage of destruction. And now, when we return to the planet, we can see in the sunlight the consequences of all this destruction.

While The Mandalorian season 3 was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Favreau felt his show was in a somewhat safe position since most of its characters are wearing some form of mask or helmet. “We also have a lot of digital work that augments things. So we’re a show that’s probably well equipped to be flexible based on the protocols that emerge around restarting work,” Favreau said in an interview. Using digital methodologies to its advantage has allowed the show to maintain a similar reach to the big screen Star Wars films. If you remember, The Mandalorian was the first to use ILM’s StageCraft, a production technology that relies on giant LED screens to create on-set backgrounds, instead of filming on actual locations. The technology was later used in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the recently canceled Netflix series 1899.

Mandalorian season 3 release date and time in India

The Mandalorian Season 3 is available now, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar. The show will be available to stream in English and Hindi, and comes after a month-long delay – previously slated for a February release. New episodes are released every Wednesday on the platform, at 1:30 p.m.

Now appearing in HBO’s ongoing The Last of Us series, Pedro Pascal is set to make headlines once again, as he reprises his role as Din Djarin/Mando. The Mandalorian season 2 saw him take off his helmet, in order to show his face to Grogu, before parting ways with the toddler. Wielding the Darksaber, he then visits the Armorer (Emily Swallow) to understand the power of such weaponry, and learns that he must travel to Mandalore and bathe in the waters beneath its mines to purify himself and redeem his status. The upcoming season charts that journey, with Grogu and a few other allies supporting him, while preparing for intergalactic threats.

Katee Sackhoff is ranked second on the list as Bo-Katan Kryze, who returns to take care of some unfinished business, essentially alluding to a long-running conflict with Djarin. You see, when Djarin won Gideon’s blade in a one-on-one duel, with the idea of ​​passing it to Bo-Katan, the former ruler of Mandalore, who intends to use his powers to unite its people. However, they learn that the Darksaber can only be won through a fair fight, and that simply handing it over to another would lead to the destruction of Mandalore. Things got in the way and the two never got to fight for the weapon, putting them both at a standstill until The Mandalorian season 3, where Bo-Katan plans to claim it.

Giancarlo Esposito returns to play genocidal Moff Gideon, who previously acquired the hallowed Darksaber, after leading an attack on the planet Mandalore. After losing it to Djarin in a fair duel, he attempts to kill himself but is knocked unconscious by Cara (Gina Carano) and returned to New Republic custody. This is the last we saw of the character, and while his escape is uncertain, it’s clear he’s out for revenge on Djarin and Grogu. “You always want to see the phoenix rise from the ashes. Or, you want to see an infamous villain rise from the ashes. And trust me, he will,” Esposito said in an interview, promoting The Mandalorian Season 3.

Carl Weathers’ Greef Karga saw a significant turnaround in terms of character development throughout The Mandalorian – once ready to cash in on Grogu’s bounty hunt out of greed, then change his view of the world when the toddler saved his life using Force healing powers. He makes a brief appearance in The Mandalorian season 3 trailer, having pivoted his wealth and resources to improve his home planet Nevarro, turning it into some kind of utopia, brimming with successful business operations, d schools and others. Weathers is also attached to direct Episode 4 of the new season.

The Armorer, the leader of the Orthodox Mandalorian warrior tribe, was last seen in Boba Fett’s book, training Djarin in the use of the Darksaber, which he struggles heavily with. Emily Swallow returns to play the armored forger, who, upon learning of Djarin’s unmasking, banishes him from the Watch and informs him of the process of reclaiming his title – bathing in the mines of Mandalore. Although she stripped Djarin of official status, she allows him to keep the armor and the Darksaber, possibly hinting that she supports him.

Amy Sedaris returns as Peli Motto, Tatooine’s mechanic, who is willing to help Djarin and Grogu on their journey, gifting them an Astromech droid. Additionally, Christopher Lloyd – best known for the Back to the Future films – is attached to have a role in The Mandalorian season 3, though it’s still under wraps.

The Mandalorian season 4?

In an interview last week, creator Jon Favreau confirmed that The Mandalorian season 4 has already been written, revealing that he and Dave Filoni plotted the entire saga beforehand. Favreau, who wrote all eight episodes of The Mandalorian season 3, said he slowly wrote each episode of the next chapter during post-production.

“Season 4? Yeah, I already wrote it,” Favreau said in the interview. “It all has to feel like a continuation and a complete story. And then he (Filoni) does Ahsoka, which I produce with him, but he is the screenwriter-showrunner. And so, to understand what’s going on in other shows or even Skeleton Crew – it’s all set in the same Star Wars time period.
