The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power Final Trailer Revealed Ahead of September Debut

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has just received a final trailer. Amazon Prime Video has released a new trailer for the highly anticipated Middle-earth prequel ahead of its premiere on September 1 or 2 (depending on where you live). Prime Video will release the first two episodes on day one, while the rest – episodes three through eight – will follow a weekly release schedule. In India, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power debuts Friday, September 2 at 6:30 a.m. IST. Follow-up episodes drop every Friday at 9:30 a.m. IST.

The latest trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power begins with a voiceover from Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), the elven warrior, detailing her rise to power after her brother’s disappearance. “My brother gave his life to drive out the enemy. His task is now mine,” she said, borrowing her trusty dagger, in honor of his memory. The LOTR prequel series, set thousands of years before the Peter Jackson films, aims to correct the lack of strong female figures in the Lord of the Rings universe.

Galadriel takes center stage here, as a sworn warrior, going on an adventure to ward off the rising evil of the Second Age of Middle-earth, before becoming the “Lady” of the Woods of Lothlórien, as described by Cate Blanchett in the Jackson Trilogy of Films. The Rings of Power trailer highlights that there is something wrong with the kingdom, as main characters Isildur (Maxim Baldry), Elrond (Robert Arayamo) and the aforementioned Galadriel prepare for the resurgence of the wrong. It then cuts to quick shots of troops marching through breathtaking locations in the Elvish and Dwarven realms, while being hunted by brutal orcs.

“You have fought long enough, Galadriel. Put your sword away,” Elrond asks, tired and frustrated with her resolve. While The Rings of Power trailer never exclusively mentions Sauron, there is a small match at the end where an armored figure drives his sword into the snow. Previous reports and a To tease on Twitter also hinted at his return, with The Rings of Power serving as his origin story. As one of the greatest villains written by JRR Tolkien, he is the creator of the One Ring – a powerful and dangerous artifact made in the flames of Mount Doom.

Rings of Power also stars Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry and Ema Horvath. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is led by showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay, who both served as uncredited writers on Star Trek Beyond.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will air on September 2 at 6:30 am IST in India with the first two episodes on Prime Video. The remaining six episodes air weekly, every Friday at 9:30 am IST.
