The latest on West Ham’s pursuit of Duje Caleta-Car ahead of deadline
A fresh update on West Ham’s attempts to sign Marseille centre-back Duje Caleta-Car has emerged on Monday.
Reports over the weekend claimed that talks were very advanced between West Ham and Marseille for Duje Caleta-Car, with a deal expected to set the Hammers back an initial €19m plus €5m in bonuses:
Talks now very advanced between West Ham & Marseille for Duje Caleta Čar, according to sources contacted by Get French Football News – deal is likely to be €19m + €5m in bonuses, half of which are attainable, other half rely on WHUFC qualifying for Europe. DCC’s salary doubled.

However, a new update on the situation has been provided by The Athletic and it is not great.
They claim that West Ham are unlikely to make a move for Marseille centre-back Duje Caleta-Car in this window.
The wording of the report does seem to leave hope that a summer move may still be on, but that is not confirmed:

West Ham striker update
As well as missing out on a centre-back this month, it also appears David Moyes and co. will not be getting their hands on a striker before the deadline.
As covered by 101 earlier on Monday, it is unlikely that West Ham will have any luck with their pursuit of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
A move for Nunez would require a huge fee and the player would take some convincing
