The latest on Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino after forward limped off against Atletico Madrid

Liverpool go through as group winners

Liverpool came through another tough test in an ill-tempered affair at Anfield as they saw off Atletico Madrid 2-0 to secure top spot in their Champions League group with two games to play.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota in the first half preceded a red card for Felipe, which essentially killed the tie as a contest.

Luis Suarez, on his return to Anfield, had the ball in the net midway through the second half, but it was ruled out for a marginal offside

In the end, however, it was a well deserved three points for Klopp’s side, who make it a 100% record in the group stage this season.

However, there was worrying news for Reds fans, as Roberto Firmino was forced off with injury, and headed straight down the tunnel.

The latest on Firmino

Following the game, Jurgen Klopp revealed that Firmino’s injury was to his hamstring, something that he was only just recovering from.

This has left Firmino almost certain to miss this weekend’s clash with high-flying West Ham on Sunday afternoon, further limiting Klopp’s options given that both James Milner and Naby Keita are also both likely to be absent.
