The Last of Us Episode 7 trailer: Ellie reminisces about her past with Riley

The Last of Us episode 7 trailer is here. In keeping with tradition, HBO has released a preview of the next installment of the post-apocalyptic zombie drama based on the beloved PlayStation video game, teasing a central DLC character – Riley. Aptly titled “Left Behind,” the new episode is directed by Liza Johnson (Silicon Valley) and chronicles the three weeks leading up to Ellie’s introduction to the show. This new arc would have lasted only 56 minutes. The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC, released in 2014, lasted an average of two hours. Episode 7 of The Last of Us airs Feb. 27 at 8:30 a.m. IST / Feb. 26 at 9 p.m. ET on Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Max, respectively.

“I’ll tell you everything, but you have to come with me for a few hours,” Riley said to a panicked Ellie. “You trust me, don’t you?” The Last of Us episode 7 trailer then opens in an abandoned mall – a place Ellie has probably never seen before. Holding hands, the couple spend the night lounging in the bright yellow lighting – riding horses on the carousel and strolling through the mall’s gardens. Keen-eyed viewers might also spot a GameStop in the background, with its twinkling lights. It is soon revealed that Riley herself is a Firefly – the revolutionary militia group that Marlene (Merle Dandridge) leads. “None of this was even about me!” cries a distraught Ellie, after being manipulated into thinking Riley had returned to see her out of the bond they shared. It turns out that was Riley’s last meeting with Ellie before she joined the group for good. The noises of the feud attract unwanted attention from the infected, warning the duo of the hordes of zombies. “Get ready to run,” Riley says before we’re treated to glimpses of them fighting back.

Since much of Ellie’s backstory has been a mystery thus far, Joel is taking a back seat to some good character building, much like developer Naughty Dog did in The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC. It’ll also be interesting to see if the next episode features the moment Ellie was bitten – a key moment in the story, where she discovers she’s immune to the effects of Cordyceps mushrooms.

Earlier this month, reports emerged suggesting HBO content including The Last of Us, Game of Thrones, Succession, and more is set to leave the Disney+ Hotstar platform in India. , due to some restructuring plans established by the recently reinstated Disney.
