Cavani on the move?

Last season, Cavani was flavour of the month at Old Trafford, with his infectious energy and goalscoring knack something not seen in United red for some time.

As a result, he penned a new deal for a further 12 months in Manchester, but that has not quite gone according to plan.

Injury and the arrival of one Cristiano Ronaldo has severely limited his game time, and certainly the latter will likely continue to do so.

As a result, it is unsurprising to see him linked with a move away come the end of his current deal, with both Barcelona and Juventus keen on the Uruguayan striker.

Cavani, as per Spanish sources, has his heart set on a move to Barcelona, even if they are playing in the Europa League, but how would Manchester United replace him?

Manchester United’s four name shortlist

Manchester United will need a new striker should Cavani depart, with out of favour Anthony Martial also keen on a departure from Old Trafford.

As per British outlet the Daily Express, the Red Devils have drawn up a four man shortlist to replace the pair, with no expense spared.

Atop their list is Borussia Dortmund prodigy Erling Haaland, widely expected to move away from the German outfit this summer. The club are allegedly hoping that Ralf Rangnick’s reputation in Germany will give them the edge over their competition.

Alternatively, the Red Devils could target another out of favour player to replace their own, in the form of Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, who has failed to return the significant investment splashed out by the Spanish club.

Another young La Liga star on the list is Alexander Isak, the Real Sociedad star who has caught the eye of Arsenal in the past.

Finally, and perhaps most surprisingly, on the list of options is a Chelsea man, in the form of Timo Werner. Given his struggles in the Premier League to date, would he really be an astute move from the Manchester United hierarchy?
