The fee Chelsea are ‘willing to pay’ for De Ligt revealed
De Ligt to leave Juventus?
After several impressive seasons at Ajax, which saw him captain the side, win the Eredivisie and reach the Champions League semi-finals, Matthijs de Ligt was snapped up by Juventus in the summer of 2019.
The Italian powerhouse are believed to have paid big money, around £76m, to bring the centre-back to Turin.
Since his move to Italy, however, de Ligt has not had the best of times, as Juve failed to defend their Serie A crown last term, finishing the campaign down in 4th place.
And though he scored in a 3-2 win over Spezia on Wednesday, the 22-year-old has also not had the best start to 2021/22.
In turn, the defender’s agent, Mino Raiola, has suggested that de Ligt could leave Juventus at the end of the season:
“Matthijs de Ligt is one of the best centre-backs in Europe. He could leave Juventus at the end of the season. Transfer market sometimes works like this”

These comments were swiftly followed by confirmation that de Ligt has a release clause in his contract, which is active from the summer of 2022, worth €150m:
Matthijs de Ligt has a release clause into his contract with Juventus and this is why Raiola spoke about his future. It will be valid starting from summer 2022 for €150m – Juve are still hoping to keep him. 🇳🇱 #Juve

Chelsea linked with De Ligt
Following on from these claims, Premier League outfit Chelsea would be linked with the defender.
The Blues have two centre-backs out of contract in the summer, with Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta now also in their 30s.
So, it would make sense for Chelsea to be eyeing a young talent such as De Ligt.
And now, some insight into how much Chelsea would be willing to pay for De Ligt has been provided.
According to football.london:
Chelsea are reportedly willing to splash out £102million to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt in 2022.
Crucially, said fee is around £26m less than what De Ligt’s reported release clause is set at.
