The Avengers Make an Amazing New Friend as Spider-Man Joins the MCU

After nearly years of teasing the possibility, it looks like Spider-Man is returning to Marvel on the big screen. A post on Marvel.com on Monday broke the news. The next Spider-Man movie will hit screens on July 28, 2017, in a movie released by Sony but co-produced by Marvel’s Kevin Feige. Interestingly, Sony’s Amy Pascal (whose leaked emails showed the story of the tense negotiations between Marvel and Sony for Spider-Man) will oversee the launch of the film as an independent producer for Sony – just days after her resignation. .

According to Marvel’s post, Spider-Man will appear in a Marvel movie for the first time – and thanks to the leaked emails, we already knew that Marvel was keen on bringing Spider-Man in for Civil War, Captain America’s third movie. , which is scheduled for May 2016. Before the release of Captain America 3: Civil War, two more Marvel movies will be released: Avengers 2: Age of Ultron on May 1 and Ant Man on July 17 this year. Spider-Man’s return to the MCU has had the inevitable drama of a TV sitcom for years now, with fans clamoring for the move and studios fully understanding its potential as a solution to their financial troubles. The poor performance of the last two Spider-Man films, which failed to revive interest in a “Spider-Man universe” for Sony, would no doubt have made the decision easier. But the deal isn’t limited to Marvel making new Spider-Man movies.

Marvel’s post also mentions that it is exploring opportunities with Sony to incorporate MCU characters into future Spider-Man films. It’s easy to see why fans are excited about this. The Spider-Man movies (and the second one in particular) were confusing movies with far too many plot details that seemed to be integrated. They weren’t bad movies per se, but a far cry from Marvel’s other superhero movies.

Everyone predicted that Guardians of the Galaxy would be Marvel’s biggest challenge, and it ended up being one of the company’s best movies yet.

But the MCU is already very crowded, and Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, which releases May 1, is supposed to add more characters to the mix, bringing in both Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, and laying the groundwork for Black Panther. When Spider-Man appears in Civil War, the world is going to get even more crowded, and unlike the other characters, Spider-Man is already extremely well known. If Marvel doesn’t handle the character very carefully, it will upset the balance of the Avengers and the MCU.

Selling the rights to Spider-Man and the X-Men had forced the MCU to focus on characters like Iron Man and Thor, a welcome move, but we can’t deny we’re excited about the latest development.

Given that Andrew Garfield won’t be Spider-Man and a new cast of characters is planned, Marvel could make the most of the opportunity and bring in a young Miles Morales. It’s a new origin story and a new character, so it’s a great opportunity to bring him in – if Marvel really wants him.

It will also help keep Marvel character archetypes fresh. We all love Tony Stark’s sarcastic tone and quick jokes, but adding Peter Parker to the mix sounds awful. Miles, on the other hand, is funny, but not constantly joking around like a video game character, and we’d love to see that on the big screen.

Kamala Khan is another superhero that would be great to see in the cinema. Marvel doesn’t have a famous character with powers like his. But if we get it at all, it’ll probably be in the Inhumans movie, which was previously supposed to be released in July 2019. But since Thor: Ragnarok is likely to be delayed (since its release date was July 28, 2017, the same like the new Spider-Man movie), other movies like the Inhumans are also going to be further delayed.

For Marvel, bringing Spider-Man back is a coup and a great opportunity, but there’s also the very real possibility of derailing the MCU’s momentum. With the MCU getting bigger and more crowded, it’s entirely possible that a single character could dominate the cast, but so far at least the team behind the MCU has shown they can. was able to rise to the challenge.
