The aspect of Tottenham’s performance – involving Reguilon – which left Antonio Conte visually irritated vs Everton

An insight into the frustrations of Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte during his side’s meeting with Everton on Sunday has been forthcoming online.

Spoils shared

Conte of course led his side back into action a little over 24 hours ago.

After overseeing a 3-2 triumph in the Europa Conference League in his first outing on the Spurs bench, the Italian was reintroduced to the rigours of Premier League football by means of a tricky trip to under-performing Everton.

The Lilywhites headed into proceedings no doubt desperate to avoid defeat, after slipping to the depths of mid-table owing to a 3-0 drubbing of Manchester United the weekend prior.

In turn, when all was said and done at Goodison Park, it did not come as a huge surprise to see both sides settle for a point, in a 0-0 stalemate.

Wing-back woes

Conte, for his part, was full of praise for the visitors’ stars following the full-time whistle on Merseyside, hailing his new troops for their willingness to ‘fight’ when the going got tough.

As outlined above, though, amid an altogether cagey affair on Sunday afternoon, Tottenham’s boss was also left visually ‘irritated’ by his side.

As per a report from Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic, the always fiery Conte was spotted ‘gesticulating wildly’ throughout the 90 minutes, in a desperate plea to his players to move the ball more quickly from one side of the pitch to the other.

This of course came with the ex-Chelsea manager having employed a trademark 3-5-2 formation versus Everton, a system heavily reliant on wing-backs, in this instance Sergio Reguilon and Emerson Royal.

One particular occasion on which the former was situated in acres of space on the left but ultimately ignored by his teammates summed up Conte’s frustrations, as it becomes increasingly evident that the new project on the Lilywhite half of north London will require patience on the part of Spurs’ boss and supporters alike.
