The 9 Liverpool players that could be missing for Arsenal clash

The 9 Liverpool players that could be missing for Arsenal clash

Arsenal travel to Anfield

Arsenal’s ten-game unbeaten run will come under immense pressure immediately after the international break as they travel to Anfield to face a Liverpool side who were handed their first defeat in 25 last weekend against West Ham.

The Gunners have so far, with the exception perhaps of Leicester City, played sides that they traditionally would have expected to beat, such as Aston Villa, Brighton and Leeds United. Therefore, while the nature of the run is reassuring, it is yet to be truly impressive, and they will be looking to make a statement next Saturday evening against one of the top teams in the country.

Liverpool injury issues continue

Fortunately for the Gunners, Liverpool are once more facing a season potentially severely affected by injury issues as they return from the international break.

Naby Keita continues to miss out on training thanks to a hamstring injury sustained in their 5-0 win over Manchester United, while Roberto Firmino is expected to be out until Christmas, also with a hamstring injury.

To further compound Jurgen Klopp’s issues, both Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane have been sent home from international duty with England and Senegal respectively due to injuries sustained while representing their country. Mane suffered a rib injury, while Henderson’s injury is less obvious. However, England boss Gareth Southgate revealed that:

“With Hendo, [it happened] within the game. There’s a precaution with both [Henderson and Grealish]. We’ve scanned them. There is small injuries on the scans so we hope that they’re not going to miss too much football from here on.

“It shouldn’t be too bad in either case but we just have to see how that progresses.”

Additionally, Andy Robertson was forced off while playing for Scotland, with what looked like another hamstring issue.

This means that, come Saturday evening, the Reds could be without as many as 9 first-team players for their clash with the Gunners, who themselves could be without Thomas Partey and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after injury scares.

Will the Gunners be able to capitalise on the injury crisis at Anfield to take a statement win?
