Tammy Abraham pens farewell message to Chelsea following Roma transfer

Tammy Abraham joins Roma

Serie A outfit AS Roma officially confirmed on Tuesday that they had secured the services of Tammy Abraham from Chelsea:

Roma are understood to be paying €40m for Abraham in installments, plus an extra €5m in add-ons.

Chelsea are also believed to have interested a buy-back clause into the deal, which is worth €80m and valid from June, 2023:

Abraham bids farewell to Chelsea

Abraham would have a mixed stint in Chelsea’s first-team.

He was handed a prominent role by Frank Lampard in 2019/20 and would go on to score 15 goals and provide four assists in 35 league ties that term.

The 23-year-old then once again started 2020/21 as Chelsea’s main striker. But once Thomas Tuchel took over in late January, Abraham was largely frozen out by the German – which seemed somewhat strange given Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal and the fact Abraham finished 2020/21 at the Blues’ joint-top scorer in all competitions despite being dropped almost as soon as Tuchel arrived.

Regardless, now Romelu Lukaku is back at the Bridge and Tuchel is still in charge, it did make sense to cash in on the Englishman now.

And, after completing his transfer to Italy, Abraham has taken to Twitter to say thank you and goodbye to Chelsea:

Thank you

It’s time to say goodbye to a club that means so much to me and my family. From playing at the academy as a young kid from Peckham to winning the Champions League all those years later… I want to say thank you to my teammates, The Academy, all of the staff and of course, the Chelsea fans who have always supported me. Wouldn’t be who I am today without you guys. Bring more trophies home boys! Love you all x TA9 out
