At CES^® 2023, Samsung Electronics presents its latest in-vehicle innovation developed jointly with HARMAN: Ready Care. This solution connects the driver’s personal experiences and the driving environment in a more organic way, in which the vehicle is able to activate personalized interventions via in-vehicle features based on driver changes. Also on display is Ready Tune, HARMAN’s new car audio technology, engineered with the company’s premium audio performance.

Create the optimal driving environment that puts the user first

One of the main variables that can determine the driving environment, regardless of the journey, is the state of the driver. Whether you’re distracted making a mental to-do list for chores that night or simply exhausted from a long day at work, cognitive distraction and drowsy driving are directly related to safety. That’s why Samsung’s latest solutions, which determine driver status and then activate car features accordingly, have been designed to create a safer automotive environment.

Ready Care is an innovative solution that allows a vehicle to directly recognize the physical and emotional state of its driver and modify the car’s functionality accordingly through key features such as its cognitive load measurement technology and the stress-free routing.

Detect and Resolve Cognitive Driver Distraction with Machine Learning

Ready Care’s Cognitive Load Measurement feature detects the driver’s condition through their facial expression, eye gaze, the way their eyelids open and more using newly developed machine learning technology . The subsequent key feature of this solution is that once the driver’s condition has been comprehensively assessed, situation-specific features and steps can be applied.

This feature tracks the driver’s field of vision and cognitive abilities in real time via on-board cameras and sensors. For example, suppose a driver has his eyes on the road but is actually thinking about a key presentation at work, the car’s internal environment will subsequently change in order to shift the driver’s attention back to driving. via an alert as well as via changes to audio volume, lighting and climate control.

Provide a more comfortable return path with stress-free routing

In order to provide a stressed driver with the most peaceful way to return home, the Stress-Free Routing feature leverages the driver’s wearable device to detect their heart rate and, if necessary, will provide alternative routes if current tracking includes stressful scenarios such as traffic jams and weather-related issues.

Additionally, with SmartThings connectivity between the driver’s car and home, the driver can ensure their arrival is as pleasant as possible by remotely setting their devices to Relax mode. — manage their TV, air purifier, lighting and more. Such inter-connectivity unites the user’s automotive experience with their home life, taking the stress out of daily commuting and allowing the driver to relax knowing their home is ready and waiting.

Upgrade your audio system at the push of a button with Ready Tune

Samsung’s presentation at CES 2023 also includes a dedicated booth showcasing HARMAN’s new automotive audio technology, Ready Tune, which uses proprietary acoustic technologies to upgrade base audio systems for enhanced branded listening experiences by pressing simply on a button.

Ready Tune allows users to customize immersive and differentiated sound experiences to suit their preferences and features Live Mode, which replicates the acoustics of live stadium performances; Talk Mode, which enhances spoken content, such as podcasts, audiobooks, and phone conversations, with custom filters; and Club Mode, which delivers crisp bass experiences beyond the capabilities of traditional speakers.

Consumers increasingly expect their in-car experiences to rival those they have with their mobile devices and other computing devices. To deliver such experiences, Samsung and HARMAN are working hard to develop automotive electronics technologies that deliver differentiated ICX experiences to users.

Following their presentation at CES, Samsung plans to continue developing technologies that make life even more convenient for their users by organically connecting their in-car experiences with those at home and in everyday life.
