Supporters at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium send message to Harry Kane during win over Man City
The home support in attendance at Tottenham’s win over Manchester City this evening made sure to send a clear message to wantaway striker Harry Kane.
Son makes the difference
The marquee fixture of the Premier League’s opening weekend of course came to a conclusion a short time ago.
The clash in question saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s Spurs welcome champions Manchester City to North London, for a highly-anticipated showdown.
Both sides headed into proceedings with key performers unavailable for selection, with hosts Tottenham having confirmed ahead of kick-off that Harry Kane would play no part, whilst Pep Guardiola was unable to call on the likes of Phil Foden or Kevin De Bruyne (fit enough only for the bench).
And, when all was said and done in the capital, it was the former who ultimately dealt better with the absence of their talisman.
A stout defensive showing, during which they restricted an ever-dangerous City outfit to just a handful of half chances, saw Spurs deservedly rewarded with the game’s winning goal 10 minutes into the 2nd-half.
After being slipped in down the right, Heung-min Son cut inside onto his left foot, before bending an inch-perfect effort through the legs of Ruben Dias and in off the far post:
Sensational from Son! 👏
He just loves scoring against Manchester City! ⚽

This, in turn, was how things remained through to the final whistle, as the Nuno era got off to the perfect start in North London.
‘Are you watching?’
Despite his strike having ultimately proved decisive in the capital, though, it was not actually the name of Tottenham attacker Heung-min Son which grabbed the headlines on the back of the action coming to a close on Sunday.
Instead, the player to have taken centre stage in the post-match chatter was, unsurprisingly, Lilywhites partner Harry Kane.
English international Kane played no part in proceedings this evening, after reportedly being deemed as not yet of the required fitness level by Nuno and co.
Many, though, were quick to suggest that this represented little more than a cover-up, with Kane, of course, having been hotly tipped for a move to Manchester City throughout the summer.
In turn, amid the action at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the home fans in attendance were keen to send a crystal clear message to their side’s long-time star man.
With Spurs boasting a deserved 1-0 advantage, the club’s supporters came together to belt out a chorus of ‘Are you watching Harry Kane?’
