“Super, Super Fast”: Bianca Andreescu Shares Court Details at WTA Eastbourne 2021

Canada’s aspiring talent Bianca Andreescu hasn’t stamped her return yet after missing out on the entire 2020 season. However, she would be looking forward to changing that at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships 2021.

Before going to London, Andreescu made her first appearance on a grass court in WTA Berlin after Wimbledon 2019. Also, she celebrated her 21st birthday in her first match but lost to Alize Cornet in two tight sets, 7-6(2), 7-5. As a result, she broke down in tears as fans sang Happy Birthday to her.

Following the Berlin upset, Bianca arrived in the United Kingdom to play at the WTA Eastbourne tournament. It would be her final tune-up event ahead of Wimbledon.

Notably, the 2019 US Open champion registered her first WTA-level main draw win on grass. She overcame a three-setter against American Christina McHale 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

The victory has indeed boosted the 21-year-old’s confidence. Moreover, after the match, Andreescu revealed that being on the move is the way to go in the grass season.

“The ball is coming super, super fast, and you don’t always have a lot of options to do,” she said. “I want to continue to work on moving forward, using my serve and moving my feet a lot since the balls are coming fast.”

Additionally, to get more matches under her belt, the young Canadian even participated in the WTA 250 Eastbourne doubles event. She will play with Kazakhstani Yulia Putintseva at this event.

On the singles front, Andreescu will lock horns with Estonian Anett Kontaveit in pre-quarters. Surprisingly, the third seed has a 0-1 head-to-head record against Kontaveit and would hope to level that in their second career matchup.

Andreescu’s chances at Wimbledon Championships 2021

The former World No.4 hasn’t had much success on the sacred lawn of Wimbledon. Her best result so far came when she qualified for the main draw in 2017.

Many things have changed in the game and mindset for the 2000-born. Over the years, Andreescu has gained a reputation for being a fighter on the court.

No doubt, she would be an unmissable player at the Championships from next week. How far do you think the Canadian would go in Wimbledon 2021? Only time will tell.
