‘Strongest position to sign him’: Transfer update bodes well for Arsenal
‘Strongest position to sign him’: Transfer update bodes well for Arsenal
Arsenal need a striker
The Gunners currently have a number of striking options on their books.
However, the majority could certainly be improved upon.
Alexandre Lacazette has been used as Arsenal’s main no.9 under Mikel Arteta. However, the Frenchman is out of contract this summer.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is another experienced option at centre-forward, but he generally performs best on the left-wing. And, his future has also been called in question following a disciplinary breach.
This leaves the inexperienced trio of Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun.
Nketiah is out of contract this summer, whilst Balogun is yet to prove that he can cut it up top for a club who are supposed to be eyeing European football.
As for Martinelli, he has certainly been a bright spark for Arsenal in recent weeks. However, the Brazilian has actually played most of his best football from the left-wing and, given his inexperience, Arsenal would probably not wish to rely on him as their main no.9 right now.
Arsenal best placed for Dusan Vlahovic
One player seemingly on the radar of Arsenal to help with their striking woes is Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic.
Arsenal have been linked with the hitman recently and now, a fresh update on the situation has emerged via The Athletic.
David Ornstein confirmed that the Gunners are indeed trying to sign the Serbian.
And, whilst a January move for the striker is not certain, it is stated that if Vlahovic does move in January, then Arsenal are in the strongest position to sign him.
The reason for this is because Arsenal are thought to be the best placed of Vlahovic’s current suitors when it comes to both the transfer fee and salary:
▪️ #MCFC want to sign Haaland in summer
▪️ #RMCF deemed biggest threat to that deal
▪️ #AFC trying for Vlahovic this month
▪️ Cantwell told he can leave #NCFC now
▪️ Bale to find new club if Wales qualify for World Cup
▪️ Kessie admired by #PL leading clubs📝 @David_Ornstein
