This would mark the end of a 14 year tenure of chronically unpopular owner Mike Ashley, who has drawn much of the life, soul, and competitiveness out of the Tyneside club with his frugal spending and questionable marketing decisions.

One man who is set to be hit hard by the change in ownership, however, is manager Steve Bruce. The Englishman is expected to be relieved of his duties, although when that happens is another matter, with the new owners not looking to make rash decisions.

Two former Chelsea bosses favourites to take over

In Bruce’s stead, two former Chelsea managers have shot to the front of the running to replace him in the Newcastle hotseat. As per Football.London, both Frank Lampard and Antonio Conte are among the favourites for the job should the takeover of the club be completed.

Would either man be right for the job, and would they take on such a challenge?

It remains to be seen.
