Southampton miss out as returning Chelsea starlet set for Championship

Chelsea youngster Tino Anjorin is primed to link up with Championship outfit Huddersfield Town for the remainder of the campaign, it has been confirmed.

The subject of gifted midfielder Anjorin’s future has of course come back to the fore in a major way of late.

This came as it became increasingly clear that the 20-year-old, after opting to join Lokomotiv Moscow on loan during the summer, would not be returning to the Russian capital this month.

Ralf Rangnick’s departure for Manchester United played a key role in the decision, added to the fact that Anjorin suffered a broken bone in his foot back in November.

In turn, a number of clubs across the English football landscape quickly made their interest in a January deal known.

And, as alluded to above, on Sunday, one such club appear to have seen their efforts to land the Chelsea youth product bear fruit.

As per the reliable Nizaar Kinsella of Goal, Anjorin is on the verge of departing Stamford Bridge once more, on this occasion for a 6-month stint in the Championship with Huddersfield Town.

The former Chelsea youth captain will link up with fellow Blues loanee Levi Colwill in west Yorkshire.

Southampton remain in the hunt

Whilst Anjorin’s future, in the short-term at least, appears to have been decided, the 20-year-old’s prospects beyond the summer appear altogether less clear.

This comes with one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals also expressing a keen interest in the English youth international’s signature.

The outfit in question? Southampton.

Kinsella’s report suggests that the Saints gave serious consideration to tabling a proposal over the terms of a permanent deal for Anjorin this month, and are therefore likely to reignite their pursuit ahead of next season.
