
Sony previews Neil Blomkamp’s ‘Gran Turismo’ movie • TechCrunch

Sony’s CES press conference is always a veritable assortment of the electronics giant’s various media offerings. Tonight it kicked off District 9 director, Neil Blomkamp, to preview the filming of his upcoming Gran Turismo adaptation.
Sony has come up with many unique camera tricks in order to capture the look and feel of the perennial favorite racing series. Remember, the studio was also behind this year’s incredibly well shot Upper gun Following, maverick.
Announced last May, the film stars David Harbour, Darren Barnet and Orlando Bloom. “It’s crazy race car action, where you’ll feel like you’re right in the middle of it,” Harbor says.
According to the film’s diary line (via Deadline), “Based on a true story, the film is the ultimate wish-fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo gamer whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions. to become a true professional racing driver.”

The film is set to hit theaters on August 11 from Sony Pictures. The company also announced that Gran Turismo is heading to its next PSVR 2 device.
