Sebastian Vettel Confirmed to Work on Newey-Designed Aston Martin Valkyrie Car

Aston Martin already have a well-established presence as a luxurious sports car company, thanks to their association with the fictional superspy, James Bond. They seem to be working on extending that front, and they have developed a hypercar, dubbed the Valkyrie.

Luckily for Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll, racing for such a team has its perks; the two will get to work with the company on the development of the hypercar. But they’re not the only ones from the F1 paddock to be involved in the project.

An advanced version of the car, the Valkyrie AMR Pro has been developed with the help of Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey.

Aston Martin collaborate with Red Bull’s Newey to build a rare hypercar

As reported by Autosport, Newey will see to the development of the car under the Red Bull Advanced Technologies Umbrella. An upgraded version of the Valkyrie’s Cosworth-built 6.5-liter V12 engine propels it, producing over 1,000bhp.

The Silverstone-based squad will lend their drivers, Vettel and Stroll, to help in the development process, The team said, “Will lend their expertise to the development of the new Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro.”

They further stated the car will have its first test very soon but haven’t fully specified their driver’s involvement in it.

Furthermore, Aston Martin’s CEO, Tobias Moers said, “Valkyrie AMR Pro is a project beyond compare, a true ‘no rules’ track-only version. Nothing else looks like it, nothing else sounds like it, and I am absolutely certain nothing else will drive like it.”

How is the team doing in Formula One?

The team were looking optimistic for the 2021 season, as last year they finished in fourth place in the constructor’s championship. However, it hasn’t gone quite their way so far this season, and they have struggled to make an impact in the standings.

However, while a dark cloud was glomming over their heads, they did have a ray of hope. It came in the form of Vettel finishing the Monaco Grand Prix in fifth place, which gave the team hope. And later, at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix where the German came second, giving the British team their first podium of the season.

Currently in sixth place in the standings with just forty-four points under their belt, the Silverstone-based squad are hoping to get as many points as possible from the upcoming races to salvage their debut season.
