Already boasting a Champions League-winning squad, the majority of the work carried out by those in a position of power at Stamford Bridge came in the form of outgoings.

The latest player through the door at Stamford Bridge? Saul Niguez.

In a potential steal on the part of Thomas Tuchel’s men, Spanish international Saul has taken his talents to the English capital on loan, with the option to buy for around £30 million next summer.

The on-loan Atletico Madrid man, in turn, has since gone on to link up with a select number of his new teammates, having not been called up for international duty with Spain.

And, amid his first full day at the Chelsea base, a further insight into the place which Saul is set to take up in Thomas Tuchel’s squad has this evening been provided.

As revealed in a post across the Blues’ social media platforms, Saul will don the 17 shirt for the season to come, after Mateo Kovacic recently vacated the number to instead take his place as the club’s new no.8.

Others to have worn the 17 for Chelsea over recent years include Eden Hazard and Pedro Rodriguez.
