Saul Niguez catchphrase goes viral online after Spaniard hooked 45 minutes into nightmare Chelsea debut

The name of Chelsea midfielder Saul Niguez has gone viral across social media on Saturday, albeit, unfortunately for the Spaniard, for all the wrong reasons.

Lukaku on target

Chelsea are of course currently locked in action, in the club’s first outing on the back of the international break.

Thomas Tuchel’s men are playing host to Aston Villa, in a Premier League clash.

The Blues headed into proceedings sans the services of a number of key performers, with the likes of N’Golo Kante and Reece James having missed out altogether, and Mason Mount, Cesar Azpilicueta and Timo Werner forced to make do with a spot on the bench.

As things stand in West London, though, the hosts are nevertheless well on their way to all three points.

Chelsea currently lead Villa by two goals to nil, owing to a fine first-half finish from Romelu Lukaku, and a rare Mateo Kovacic strike shortly after the interval:

‘Better haul Saul’

Despite the scoreline, though, Chelsea’s evening has actually not proven a straightforward one.

Visitors Villa created a hatful of presentable chances over the course of the opening 45 minutes, and should really have made at least one count.

Several of the opportunities carved out by Dean Smith’s men, meanwhile, came due to the struggles of one Chelsea player in particular – Saul Niguez.

Thrown in from the off for his debut in blue this evening, Spanish international Saul – a late summer arrival from Atletico Madrid – toiled in his efforts to adapt to the pace of the game, persistently surrendering possession in dangerous areas of the park.

In turn, boss Tuchel was left with little choice but to hook the midfielder at the interval, a call which has since given rise to something of a viral trend:
