Samsung’s 2023 Neo QLED and Lifestyle TVs Certified as First Displays to Reconnect Users with Their Circadian Rhythm – Samsung Global Newsroom
Samsung’s Eye Comfort mode balances light exposure and color temperature and adjusts screen settings to deliver the optimal viewing experience for consumers
Samsung Electronics today announced that its Neo QLED 20231 and lifestyle television2 have received the “Circadian Rhythm Display” certification from the Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), one of Germany’s leading electrical engineering certification institutes. The certification underscores Samsung’s commitment to developing technology and products designed for consumers.
This certification recognizes that Samsung TV’s Eye Comfort mode provides an optimal viewing experience for consumers who spend more time indoors by automatically balancing light exposure and color temperature to mimic natural outdoor light.
The circadian rhythm has a cycle of inhibiting melatonin secretion for dynamic activities during the day while activating its release for comfortable sleep at night. Melatonin is a hormone known to help you sleep well.
VDE certification validates the benefits of Eye Comfort mode on users’ circadian rhythm by measuring the circadian stimulus at different levels of illumination and assessing the impact on melatonin suppression. The certification process is in line with the Circadian Stimulus method based on research results from the Lighting Research Center in the United States
This is one of many verifications Samsung TVs have received, representing ongoing efforts to put users and their experience at the center of product design. Previously, Samsung TVs received VDE’s “Eye Care” certification and UL’s “Glare-Free” validation, as well as Pantone’s “Pantone Validated” and “SkinTone Validated” certifications, which means that Samsung displays certified meet the organization’s color accuracy standards. .
