Samsung to manufacture Galaxy S23 flagship smartphones in India for local market

Korean smart device maker Samsung announced on Thursday that it will manufacture high-end Galaxy S23 smartphones in India to meet local market requirements.
The launch price of the Galaxy S23 series in India is in the range of Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 1.55 lakh per piece.
Currently, Galaxy S Series smartphones are manufactured in Samsung’s Vietnamese factory and the company imports them for sale in India.
“All Galaxy S23 smartphones sold in India will be manufactured at the company’s Noida factory. Samsung already meets the majority of domestic demand in India through local manufacturing at the Noida factory. Samsung’s decision to selling Galaxy S23 ‘Made in India’ smartphones shows the company’s commitment to Indian manufacturing and growth,” Samsung said in a statement.
The development comes a day after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the removal of import duties on camera lenses, which is one of the main unique selling propositions of Galaxy S series smartphones.
The company on Wednesday unveiled three models of Galaxy S23 smartphones, equipped with high-end camera sensors.
“Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with Samsung’s most advanced camera system, suitable for almost any lighting condition and designed to render incredible detail. Galaxy S23 Ultra features a new Adaptive Pixel sensor 200MP camera that captures epic moments with incredible precision,” the statement read.
Samsung has doubled the capacity of the main camera sensor of the Galaxy S23 Ultra series to 200 megapixels compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra while retaining 100x Space Zoom as well as 10x optical and digital zoom functions.
The phone will come with five sets of cameras with camera sensors in the 12-megapixel to 200-megapixel range.
Samsung has priced the Galaxy S23 series 27-30% more expensive than the Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones.
The Galaxy S22 smartphones launched last year were priced between Rs. 72,999 and Rupees. 1,18,999 per piece.
The company said it had registered 1.4 lakh reservations for the Galaxy S22 smartphones even before pre-bookings closed on March 10, 2022.
