Samsung now plans to sell 70% fewer Galaxy A23 5G units than originally planned

An interesting story comes to us today from the home of Samsung in South Korea. The company has reportedly lowered its shipment target for the Galaxy A23 5G smartphone significantly. Earlier this year, Samsung expected to sell 12.6 million units of the A23 5G, along with 17.1 million units of the A23 4G this year.

However, if a new report from a Korean publication The Electric Guess the newly revised shipment target for the Galaxy A23 5G is less than 4 million units. That’s a drastic reduction of around 70% of the lens, and the reason could have something to do with a mysterious, undisclosed issue with this specific model.

According to the same report, “a certain feature that was supposed to be on the phone caused serious problems with the operation of the handset”, causing Samsung to conduct a month-long investigation into the issue to find out what the exact problem was.

Although not directly stated, even in rumored form, we are led to believe that this issue, and subsequent investigation, may have something to do with why the A23 4G was launched. in March, while the A23 5G only hit the streets in September.

The mysterious unnamed issue has finally been resolved, but “due to the headaches it has caused”, Samsung plans to manufacture fewer units of the A23 5G. The “less than 4 million” target for 2022 is joined by a target of 5 million for 2023.
