Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will come with an S-Pen slot, a new processor based on a 4nm process node: report

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, the company’s next foldable smartphone, is said to be unveiled this summer. The phone will arrive as a successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which launched last year in August. While the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is months away from launch, it’s rumored to bring new features and improvements over its predecessor, including a dedicated Samsung S-Pen holder. It is also said to have major improvements in performance, camera and other features. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 also arrived with several upgrades over the Galaxy Z Fold 3, including a 2X larger 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

According to a report from GizmoChina via The Pixel, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will come with a standard S-Pen stylus holder. The report states that this new addition could improve the overall productivity quotient of the foldable device. The new smartphone is also likely to make the thickness and weight of the phone heavier and heavier.

According to the report, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 can now weigh 275 grams and be 6.5 mm thick when unfolded, while its predecessor Galaxy Z Fold 4 weighs 263 grams.

Furthermore, the report also noted that the phone might be powered by a new processor from Qualcomm named Snapdragon 985 5G SoC based on 4nm processor. However, this has not yet been officially announced by the semiconductor manufacturer. The report also mentions a previous article which stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 came with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 was launched globally during the Galaxy Unpacked event on 10 August 2022. It is priced at Rs. 1,54,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The phone is features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus protection and runs on OneUI 4.1.1 based on Android 12. It will feature side fingerprint sensors for biometric authentication.
