The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to be released in August this year. Samsung has yet to officially confirm the launch details, but rumors about the foldable clamshell smartphone have already started making the rounds. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 could benefit from design improvements this year. On the one hand, Samsung is highly anticipated to equip it with a larger exterior display, and a new leak from DSCC analyst Ross Young seems to add more credibility to this rumor. According to him, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a 3.8-inch cover screen. Samsung is expected to begin shipments of Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 panels in May.

Ross Young tweeted on Monday (via SlashLeaks) that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 could feature a 3.8-inch cover screen. That would be bigger than the 1.9-inch outer display of the predecessor Galaxy Z Flip 4. For comparison, Oppo’s latest clamshell-style foldable handset, Find N2 Flip, has a 3.26 inches. The new leak is consistent with earlier reports. Recently, a concept render of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 surfaced on the web showing a large external display covering a wide area. The large external display could allow users to capture selfies and view notifications such as time, battery percentage, etc.

Furthermore, according to the analystGalaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 panel shipments will begin in May, while smartphone production will begin in June.

A recent Geekbench listing hinted at the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. The former is listed with 8GB of RAM while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has 12GB of RAM .

Past leaks suggested that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 would come in beige, gray, light green, and light pink color options, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 would come in beige, black, and light blue tones.
