We finally have the brand new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in the office and amid the craze of taking photos and videos, running benchmarks, taking comparison shots with the previous Ultra, we thought we should also do a unpacking.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra comes in a box with a SIM eject tool. That’s it. No cables, no cases, no charger, just the phone and the tool. But at this point you probably have a few of the other necessities lying around and Samsung is doing its part to help the environment. In its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, Samsung has reduced the use of plastics in retail packaging and even included some bits on the phone itself that are mined from recycled fishing nets and bottles. in plastic.
Plus, many Galaxy S23 Ultra pre-order deals include a free 25W charger, so you might be good on that.
What you get – a box – and what you don’t – a charger
You should now know Samsung S series and their relationship to each other. We’ve had this running trio of a small S Phone, a medium S Phone, and a really big Ultra Phone for a few years now. Still, enjoy these side-by-side photos we took for you!

An image does not convey the differences between the S23 and the S22 Ultra The new phone has slightly wider side rails which are flatter and therefore more comfortable when you hold it. The display panel also curves less than the old one – it’s very subtle but it shows when handling the two side by side.
The three protruding lenses on the back are slightly larger on the Galaxy S23 Ultra and yet the phone sits a bit lower on a table, next to its predecessor.
