The Galaxy S23 series brings enhanced video capture capabilities, including support for 8K at 30 fps (previous models exceeded 24 fps). There’s more – according to the leakster ice universethe Galaxy S23 Ultra will have an improved portrait video mode.

The resolution cap would go up to 4K at 30fps, while the current S22 Ultra only records 1080p/30fps video in portrait mode. In addition, the separation between the subject and the background will be better.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the first (and so far only) phone with the ISOCELL HP2

It is not clear if these improvements will be available on the other two Galaxy S23 models. They all have the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipsets, but the Ultra is the only one with the new 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor. The S22 and S22+ will use 50MP sensors instead.

Anyway, The Cat also writes that the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s thermals are “relatively good,” which should mean the new flagship doesn’t heat up much when shooting in these more demanding video modes. The S23 series will be officially unveiled in a few weeks on February 1st.
