It’s been a while since Samsung launched the latest Fan Edition / “FE” smartphone. The Galaxy S21 FE was released in January last year. And since… nothing. Rumors swirled, first about a Galaxy S22 FE, then when that didn’t happen, we started hearing about a Galaxy S23 FE, which was most recently expected to arrive in the second half. of this year.

And even. Today, prolific (and generally reliable) leakster Roland Quandt has some bad news for anyone who’s been looking forward to the S23 FE. According to him, it “doesn’t look like” there will actually be an S23 FE this year. Or, dare we add, any other year if not this one.

Now, obviously, we can’t tell you exactly what’s going on and what Samsung’s plans really are. There are conflicting reports about the existence and launch (or lack thereof) of this device, so remember to take those reports with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Quandt sadly didn’t go into more detail, but presumably he would have had information on such a handset if it was released in the next few months – he is after all a constant source of leaks. This statement leads us to believe that he may not have seen anything about the S23 FE yet, which could very well mean that it will never exist.

Samsung never really felt comfortable with the two FE smartphone models it launched. They were “flagship killer” devices, and it seems that, for a similar budget, Samsung would much rather you bought last year’s flagship (or the one from the year before), or a Series A mid-ranger instead of something like that. At least that’s one way of looking at it. Stick around and we’ll let you know what’s really going on.
