Today, Samsung announced new updates for Galaxy Buds2 Pro TWS headphones and Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch4 series smartwatches. These updates are intended to improve your experience using the camera on your paired phone.

Galaxy Buds2 Pro get a new 360-degree audio recording feature, which captures sound from 360 degrees using a microphone in each earbud and adds it to your video recording. Apparently, this means those viewing your videos will feel right in the middle of the action, hearing “realistic, immersive sounds that mimic an in-person experience,” Samsung says.

This feature uses Bluetooth LE Audio, which enables binaural recording, using the left and right mics at the same time.

If you own a smartwatch from the Galaxy Watch4 or Galaxy Watch5 families, a new upcoming update will add zoom capabilities to the Camera Controller app. As the name suggests, this lets you control the zoom of your phone’s camera.

All it takes is a pinch of the dial or a turn of the rotating bezel. Samsung says it’s perfect for taking group selfies or group shots from a distance as it eliminates the need to walk back and forth to the phone to frame the perfect shot.

The 360-degree audio recording feature is “gradually being released” on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, but for now you can only use it if you have a Galaxy Z Flip4 or Galaxy Z Fold4, as support Bluetooth LE Audio is required. The upcoming Galaxy S23 devices will certainly support this too.

The updated Camera Controller app will be available for Galaxy Watch5, Galaxy Watch5 Pro, Galaxy Watch4, and Galaxy Watch4 Classic from February.
