Samsung Cloud Orchestrator, the company’s solution for automating the lifecycle management of virtualized RAN and Core functions, is now used by global operators in Asia, Europe and North America.

Samsung Electronics today announced enhancements to its Samsung Cloud Orchestrator (SCO) a solution that automates the lifecycle management of large-scale virtualized radio access networks (vRAN). SCO streamlines onboarding, deployment, and operations processes, making it easier for operators to manage hundreds or even thousands of cell sites from a unified platform.


The SCO now supports automating vRAN deployments across private and public clouds, allowing network services to be provisioned across multiple cloud environments, and this multi-cloud capability provides a very flexible scaling option for operators, suitable for various deployment scenarios.

Samsung has provided the SCO for virtualized RAN to Tier 1 operators in Asia, Europe and North America, leveraging the solution to bring greater efficiency to their network deployment and operation.

With our enhanced Samsung Cloud Orchestrator, operators have the platform they need to deploy and manage their vRAN with maximum efficiency and greater flexibility,” said June Moon, Executive Vice President, Head of R&D, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics. “It’s part of Samsung’s goal to leverage our experience of large-scale commercial vRAN deployments to develop and introduce intuitive tools that take vRAN to the next level.”

For operators of virtualized networks and Open RAN, SCO allows them to simplify intensive manual tasks from the very beginning of the creation of the network. It is an integrated automation platform that supports end-to-end process coordination through a centralized portal, where users can view and control their network status on a unified platform. .

Key process improvement capabilities provided by SCO include the following:

  • Integration: Operators can leverage this solution to prepare packages for installation at each site and automatically perform deployment tasks on a scheduled basis. This allows operators to easily implement their own CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous deployment) environment. It checks the package version and file formats and automatically searches for missing components in the package.
  • Deployment: Operators can distribute numerous vRAN software packages and containers needed to launch large groups of cell sites with a single click from a centralized location reduce overall deployment time. It also helps simplify the process of setting up each cell site with centralized task management.
  • Operation: SCO can provide automatic vRAN software upgrades, repair and scaling to ensure the resiliency of each network, allowing operators to maintain optimal network conditions by performing these tasks remotely at scale.
