Sacking imminent? Barcelona make Koeman decision as planned interview cancelled
A potentially major development towards Ronald Koeman’s departure from Barcelona has been forthcoming this weekend.
Exit pleas mount
The name of Dutch tactician Koeman has of course taken centre stage in the media chatter across Europe of late.
This comes as the Barcelona faithful ramp up calls for the board at the Camp Nou to send their boss on his way.
The Blaugrana have endured a less than impressive opening to the campaign, currently sitting 9th in the La Liga table, on the back of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid last time out.
Even more concerning, though, has been the club’s form on the continent.
Koeman and co. currently sit dead bottom of their Champions League group, having slipped to a pair of defeats at the hands of Bayern Munich and Benfica, both by the same 3-0 scoreline.
In truth, it is therefore hard to blame those of a Blaugrana persuasion for their unrelenting pleas for a change on the bench in Catalunya, with recent data collected by the CIES Football Observatory suggesting that Barca’s combined player personnel in fact boasts the 4th-highest value of any club in Europe.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a boost to the Catalan giants’ supporters to hear that, on Sunday, a potentially significant development has been forthcoming regarding Koeman’s future, or lack thereof, at the Camp Nou.
As per a report from Spanish outlet Marca, Barca president Joan Laporta has informed the club’s boss that he and his colleagues do not want the Dutchman to take part in any media duties for the time being.
In fact, a television interview pencilled in for Koeman later this week has been cancelled, amid fresh uncertainty surrounding his position.
