Romelu Lukaku off for Chelsea against Malmö with fears over potential injury
Lukaku subbed-off with potential injury
Main Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku was sent marching down the tunnel in the first-half against Swedish giants Malmö FF in match day three of Group H play in the Champions League tonight, but not for a sending off.
The Belgian striker was taken down in the box by Di blåe center-back Lasse Nielson, which led to Jorginho converting his effort from the spot to put the Blues 2-0 up after 21-minutes and looking comfortable at Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku was soon replaced by German youngster Kai Havertz two minutes after the Italian midfielder put his effort from 12-yards past keeper Johan Dahlin.
The concern comes from Lukaku immediately grabbing his right ankle after going down under the challenge from the Danish defender, and any spell on the sidelines for the RSC Anderlecht youth graduate could present a very tricky situation for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel in what will undoubtedly amount to a selection headache in the number 9 role.
Belgian striker potentially overworked already at Chelsea
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could well end up lamenting his decision to start Lukaku tonight in European action, after the German tactician had previously mentioned that the Belgian’s poor run of form could be down to the center-forward already being overused between club and international commitments.
“In my opinion, I feel Romelu overplayed. I think he played too many competitions over the summer and now he played Nations League. He is a fantastic athlete, a competitive guy and he wants to be out there and win, digging deep”
Lukaku has already featured. in every single match since his return to Chelsea this summer, beginning with his second club debut against Arsenal, where he bagged his first goal of the season.
He has also logged heavy international minutes for Roberto Martinez’s Belgian outfit, and as the only viable option at center-forward at the minute after Chelsea sold Tammy Abraham to AS Roma and Timo Werner has failed to settle in the position since his move from RB Leipzig last season, Tuchel will be hoping that his chief target man is not set for a spell on the sideline.
