Roku cracks 70 million active accounts
The streaming platform also claims the most streaming hours in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Roku streamed more hours in 2022 than any other streaming service.

Roku has surpassed 70 million active users, the streaming platform announced Thursday. It reached the milestone shortly after the end of 2022, during which Roku users streamed 87.4 billion hours of content on the platform. This is a 19% increase from 2021 and the most hours streamed on any platform in Canada, the United States and Mexico, the company said.
For the very first time in parts of 2022, people are spending more time watching streaming TV than they were watching it on cable.
In 2022, Roku released its first original movie (Bizarre: the story of Al Yankovic) and presented original television shows. To CES 2023the company launched its first Roku-branded TV.
The release didn’t claim that Roku had the most active users, a distinction that almost certainly goes to Amazon FireTVwhich last reported 50 million active users in 2020.
