Word stemming from the Italian media suggests that a pair of Serie A stars have been identified as key transfer targets on the part of those in a position of power at Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
Conte era underway
Developments on the Lilywhite half of north London have of course proven headline news over the course of the last week.
This comes with Daniel Levy and co. having pulled the trigger on an altogether impressive change on the club’s bench, replacing the faltering Nuno Espirito Santo with serial winner Antonio Conte.
The Italian has since gone on to steady the ship to at least some degree over his first two games in charge, securing a Europa Conference League victory over Vitesse, followed by a hard-fought Premier League point at Everton on Sunday.
However, it is the prospect of things to come which has seen excitement truly begin to spread amongst the Spurs fanbase.
On the back of Conte’s appointment being made official, reports quickly began to spread that the Italian’s decision to take up the reins came owing to guarantees over spending in the transfer market.
In turn, a considerable outlay will be expected over the coming months, potentially set to get underway as early as January.
Serie A stars on the wishlist
And, as outlined above, this past weekend, an insight was provided into two of the key targets being eyed by Tottenham’s new boss.
As per a report from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Conte has set his sights firmly on his home country, as a Serie A raid lies in wait.
The ex-Inter Milan and Chelsea tactician is understood to have ‘agreed’ with director Fabio Paratici that two players – in the form of Milan Skriniar and Dusan Vlahovic – should be prioritised as reinforcements moving forward.
Inter stopper Skriniar has of course long been tipped for a move to north London, and, despite Cristian Romero’s big-money summer arrival, remains at the top of the club’s transfer wishlist.
Hitman Vlahovic, meanwhile, was too named as a Spurs target during the summer, with Harry Kane’s concerning start to the season having seen Fiorentina’s main man identified as the ideal replacement for the Englishman next summer.
