Revealed: The 10 rules Xavi has implemented since becoming Barcelona boss

Revealed: The 10 rules Xavi has implemented since becoming Barcelona boss

Xavi named as Barcelona boss

Xavi Hernandez has officially returned to FC Barcelona, this time as their manager.

The Spaniard has taken over after Ronald Koeman was sacked last month following poor starts to both the La Liga and Champions League campaign.

Xavi returns to his first-ever club in a time of crisis. All of the big stars from Barcelona’s past have either departed for pastures new or are, in the case of Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets, past their best and in need of replacing.

Barca’s awful recruitment over the last five or six years has also left them with a fairly poor squad that can only really be saved if someone is able to get the best of the latest batch of La Masia graduates like Ansu Fati and Pedri.

In the league, meanwhile, Barcelona are currently sat down in 9th place – a full 11 points off top spot.

Their Champions League campaign also hangs in the balance, with a loss to Benfica in their next European outing likely to condemn them to a spot in the Europa League.

Xavi’s 10 rules

With mass change clearly needed at Barcelona, Xavi has wasted little time in implementing his regime.

As 101 covered on Monday, Xavi has sanctioned the immediate dismissal of first-team physio Juanjo Brau, a move which seemed pretty wise given the pile-up of injury issues at Barca of late.

And now, Spanish outlet AS, as cited by the Mirror, are reporting that the former Blaugrana midfielder has implemented 10 rules at Barcelona.

The rules are as follows:

1 – Players to arrive 90 minutes early for training

2 – Staff must arrive even earlier

3 – All players must eat at the training ground

4 – The return of fines

5 – Fines will be doubled for repeat offenders

6 – No late nights at least 48 hours before a game

7 – Players must give it their all

8 – Off-pitch habits will be monitored

9 – Players will be banned from ‘risky’ activities

10 – Image is everything
