Revealed: Manchester City’s stance on replacing Ferran Torres in January

Ferran Torres set to join Barcelona

In a deal that has come together rapidly, it appears as though Manchester City forward Ferran Torres is set to join Barcelona in the January transfer window.

As per a whole host of reliable sources, Manchester City are to receive 55 million euros for their 21 year old, over double what they paid Valencia for hi 18 months ago, with the prospect of an additional 10 million euros in various add-ons.

Torres, for his part, is set to sign a 5 year deal in Catalonia. But will this departure spur Manchester City into transfer action come January?

Manchester City set not to replace Torres

It seems unlikely.

As per reliable Manchester City reporter Sam Lee, Pep Guardiola and co. are not set to try and replace Torres in the winter window.

Instead, they will rely upon youth talent Cole Palmer to fill the Spaniard’s boots, having rejected a loan approach from Newcastle for the forward.

As per the report:

There is no prospect of putting that money towards a January move for either Harry Kane or Erling Haaland, two leading targets, with Guardiola prepared to see out the season with the squad that he has.

Will it be enough to land another Premier League crown?
