The Redmi Note 12 series was launched in China last year and finally made its way to the Indian market thanks to a launch in January 2023. The series was launched here on January 5 and went on sale for the first times on January 11. According to a post by tipster Smart Pikachu on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, the Chinese smartphone maker is already working on a new Redmi Note series that could succeed the Redmi Note 12 series. OLED screens, the tipster said. The OLED display of the upcoming Redmi Note series will also feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, the Weibo post added.

Redmi traditionally uses side fingerprint scanners. If the rumors turn out to be true, it could mark the first major change in fingerprint sensor placement on a Redmi smartphone in 23 years, the tipster has suggested.

In another post on Weibo, the tipster also claims that the upcoming Redmi Note series smartphone could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series SoC.

A report from Gizmochina, however, said the tipster might be referring to the supposed addition to the Redmi Note 12 series already live – the Redmi Note 12 Turbo edition. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo smartphone model is rumored to arrive with a 6.67-inch OLED panel that offers Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, while being powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC from Qualcomm, which has yet to be announced.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo edition is also designed to feature a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 2-megapixel tertiary sensor, while being powered by a 5-megapixel battery. 500mAh with 67W fast. load support.
