Reddit Updated with Searchable Post Comments, News Feeds, and More: All the Details

Reddit has introduced several new features as part of a new update that the company says aims to make it easy for users to engage in conversations, discover and post content. The social media platform has added the ability to search through comments to posts, along with a dedicated video feed and a clean interface. The post comments search feature will allow users to search the comments section for specific words or phrases by tapping on the search lens available at the top. The company has also added new Read and Watch feeds to the app, similar to those offered by Instagram Reels and TikTok.

In a blog post detailing updates to the app, Reddit says the platform has made product and design improvements to simplify and streamline how people discover, join, and contribute (post , vote or comment) in its communities called sub-reddits. It added several new features such as the ability to show posts in the reading feed and a watch feed for vertical video content.

Moreover, the platform has also brought a new clean interface which aims to refine the user experience on the platform. Besides, the company has also promised to bring new updates which will improve its video player, chat features, new storefront updates etc. along with an updated web platform .

Reddit Chief Product Officer Pali Bhat said new and existing Reddit users will have better experiences and options to discover new and engaging content and communities in uncluttered spaces.

Last year, Reddit rolled out the ability to comment with GIFs. Previously, the feature was restricted to Powerups subscribers of the social media platform. The bonuses were a community membership that offered special benefits and features for the community. The company then removed bonuses along with some of the popular features bundled into the subscription service. Reddit has enabled all safe for work (SFW) subreddits to enable the comment in GIFs feature allowing them to comment in GIFs. Notably, newly created SFW communities should disable the feature if they wish to disable it.
