Red Bull May be ‘Two Seconds’ Behind Mercedes F1 Next Year: Toto Wolff

Red Bull May be ‘Two Seconds’ Behind Mercedes F1 Next Year: Toto Wolff

Mercedes lost the Styrian Grand Prix this past weekend, as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen bagged a back-to-back win. Hence, Lewis Hamilton has urged his Brackley-based colleagues to bring in upgrades to improve the car, so that they can catch up to their rivals from Milton-Keynes.

However, team principal, Toto Wolff is of a different opinion and feels the upgrades will not make a difference. Furthermore, the Austrian boss feels neither Red Bull will develop their car, as they would be two seconds slower next year when the new regulations are put in place.

Toto Wolff predicts Red Bull will be slower if they further develop their car

As quoted from Auto Motor Und Sport, Wolff said, “We talked to the drivers about it and found a rational approach. Possible upgrades would not bring us as much now as they would cost us next year.”

Will Mercedes bounce back for round two at the Red Bull Ring?

The 7-time constructor’s champion have gone two races without a win, one at the French GP and now at the Styrian GP. While their rivals, Red Bull have come out victorious on those two venues.

The Silver Arrows currently sit in second place in the standings with 212 points, while the Raging Bulls have 252 under their belt. After tasting defeat at the hands of Verstappen, the Brackley-based team will be hoping to learn from their mistakes and make a comeback for the next race in Austria.

Wolff & Co will throw everything they have at the Milton-Keynes-based outfit, as they prepare for another battle at the Red Bull Ring. Lewis Hamilton & Valtteri Bottas will push the limits of their W12 and aim to score maximum points with the hope of bridging the forty-gap to the leaders of the championship.
