
Realme GT Neo 5 confirmed to get 240W fast charging support, launches in February

Realme has confirmed 240W fast charging support with its upcoming flagship phones this year and the brand’s first phone to get the technology will be the upcoming GT Neo 5. The company had brought 150W fast charging with Realme GT Neo 3 in 2022. The phone would be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Although there is no exact launch date available yet, the Chinese manufacturer has said that the Realme GT Neo 5 will be launched in February.
The Chinese manufacturer has confirmed via its official Weibo page that the Realme GT Neo 5 will be the brand’s first phone to feature the fastest 240W charging technology. He also said the phone is expected to arrive in February. The Realme GT Neo 5 will feature 13 built-in temperature sensors, PS3 fire protection design, and full-linkage security monitoring mechanism. It will also have a heat dissipation area of 6580mm², the company revealed in a press release.
Realme said the upcoming fastest charging technology will use a 240W mini dual GaN charging adapter to achieve the highest power density of 2.34W/DC. It will come with a low voltage charging solution backed by a very high power conversion rate of 98.7%. Additionally, the company will also introduce a 12A charging cable with 21AWG thickened copper wires and a single USB-C interface.
The company shared that the charge conversion efficiency reaches 98.5% using a 100W three-way charge pump parallel design, 20V 12A input and 10V 24A output. , 240W is said to have no effect on battery life, as tests have shown it to be over 80% even after 1600 full charge cycles from 0-100%. It also showed no safety defects at high temperature of 85°C and high humidity of 85% after 21 days of testing period, Realme said.
According to a previous report, the phone is expected to arrive in two variants with different batteries and fast charging configurations, namely a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 150W fast charging and a 4,600 mAh battery with plug. support 240W fast charging. Additionally, the phone features a 6.7-inch 1.5K OLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and PWM dimming ( PWM) of 2,169 Hz. Under the hood, it is said to have a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
