Realme confirms the GT Neo 5 will be the first phone to feature 240W fast charging

Earlier today, Realme unveiled its 240W charging system, the first in the smartphone industry to reach this level of power. Now the company has confirmed which phone will be the first to use it – the Realme GT Neo 5.

The phone itself is still under wraps, but multiple leaks have given us a good idea of ​​what to expect. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for starters. Although there is talk of another GT Neo 5 with 150W charging which will use the Dimensity 8200 instead.

Anyway, the phone will feature a 50 MP main camera with OIS (IMX890 sensor), an 8 MP ultrawide, a 2 MP assistant and a 16 MP selfie camera. The screen should be 6.7″ with a “1.5K” resolution (1,240 x 2,772 pixels) and 144Hz refresh rate, plus high-frequency PWM dimming (2,160Hz).

The phone will also have no less than 13 temperature sensors that will monitor the charging process and shut things down if the heat rises above expected levels. Additionally, Realme claims the battery will retain 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles.

Realme has already revealed the charger that will provide the 240W of power. It supports both 20V/12A and 10V/24A operation and is surprisingly small – only 5% larger than the previous 150W adapter, which was used in the phone’s predecessor, the Realme GT Neo3 (150W).

The GT Neo 3 with 150W charging has a 4,500mAh battery and in our tests it reached 100% charge in just 16 minutes. There’s no word on the GT Neo 5’s battery capacity or how long it will take from a full charge.

The Realme GT Neo 5 with 240W charging will be unveiled next month.
