Madrid interested in Matheus Cunha

It would not be a Real Madrid summer if they were not linked with a star performer from an international competition, with the club having signed the likes of Mesut Ozil and James Rodriguez after such events.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fijaches, Real Madrid have set their sights on a move for Hertha BSC’s Matheus Cunha, who impressed at the Olympic games for Brazil. In his five appearances in Tokyo, Cunha scored 3 and assisted a further goal, operating in a hybrid number nine/number 10 role.

Leeds United have thought to hold an interest in the forward this window, but may not be able to afford him, with German outlet Berliner-Kurier claiming that it would take 25 million euros to prise Cunha away from Hertha.

Could Madrid swoop in?

Kroos “would not be surprised” to see Mbappe join Madrid

Meanwhile, Toni Kroos has been stoking the Kylian Mbappe fire that rages on in Madrid. The Spanish giants have made no secret of their desire to sign Mbappe from French side Paris Saint Germain, despite the Parisians refusing to entertain the notion.

Speaking in an interview with German publication Bild, Kroos said:

‘I prefer to talk about signings that have already been completed’

‘But since Real always want the best, I would not be surprised.’

With Lionel Messi joining PSG, could Mbappe be tempted by a move to Spain this summer?

Odegaard remains on Arsenal’s radar

One player who could still make his exit from Real Madrid this summer is Martin Odegaard, who is thought to be on Arsenal’s radar.

As per transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Odegaard remains “the main target as number 10”, despite links to James Maddison also surfacing this week. Odegaard remained on the bench for Real Madrid’s final pre-season fixture, but has featured several times previously under new boss Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the upcoming campaign.

As such, it is unclear whether a move for the Norwegian is feasible this window, something that will likely only become obvious closer to the transfer deadline.
