Real Madrid chief Perez drops Mbappe hint in wake of title celebrations
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was, on Sunday, drawn once more on the club’s ongoing pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
And the Spanish patron’s ensuing response will no doubt spark widespread excitement across the club’s loyal fanbase.
Hitman Mbappe, of course, has long been tipped to swap the French capital for its Spanish equivalent, upon the expiration of his contract with PSG in the summer.
Recent weeks, however, had seen murmurs begin to mount across the European media that the 23-year-old may in fact be inching towards rebuffing the advances of Real, to put pen to paper on fresh terms at the Parc des Princes.
Speaking to Movistar earlier today, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his side’s pursuit of Mbappe was put to Florentino Perez.
And the Blancos chief made use of the opportunity to drop something of a hint, confirming that reports of PSG’s main man landing at the Bernabeu this summer ‘might be true’:
“I hadn’t thought about it [Mbappe] but now that you mention it, it might be true and so on.”
“When we plan next year’s squad, we’ll see.”
Perez’s comments of course come fresh on the back of what have proven a wonderful 24 hours for all associated with Real Madrid.
This comes with a fine domestic campaign on the part of the capital giants having culminated in a well-deserved La Liga title, sealed on Saturday with a full four games to spare.
A meeting with Espanyol ultimately culminated in Real emerging on the right side of a 4-0 scoreline, courtesy of goals from all of Rodrygo (2), Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema, sparking jubilant celebrations across Madrid.
