Raphinha’s key demand to commit to new Leeds contract revealed

Raphinha’s key demand to commit to new Leeds contract revealed

An insight into the demands of Leeds United star Raphinha amid ongoing contract negotiations with the club has been provided on Monday.

The subject of wide-man Raphinha’s future has of course long proven something of a concern in west Yorkshire.

This comes with the Brazilian’s ever-impressive form beginning to attract admiring glances across not only the English football landscape, but Europe as a whole.

Raphinha’s haul of nine goals and three assists across a Premier League campaign which has seen Leeds for long periods forced to stave off relegation is understood to have piqued the attentions of Barcelona, Manchester United and more.

And now, as alluded to above, a fresh insight has been forthcoming into not only those keen on his services, but also the chances of the 25-year-old staying put at Elland Road.

As per a report from Bruno Andrade of Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Raphinha has laid out one key condition to the Leeds hierarchy amid discussions over a new contract with the club.

The condition in question? The reduction of his buyout clause.

Evidently, the explosive attacker views the £70 million fee in his current contract – due to expire in the summer of 2024 – as excessive, and therefore a potential hindrance in future hopes of sealing a move to one of the continent’s heavyweights.

This comes amid added claims of interest on the part of all of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Ayling wins it at the death

Raphinha was of course forced to sit out this past weekend, as Leeds got their efforts to push further away from the Premier League’s drop zone back underway in a trip with Wolves.

And, despite the South American’s absence, afford the club’s survival hopes a major boost is precisely what Jesse Marsch’s troops went on to do.

A remarkable 90 minutes ultimately culminated in Leeds emerging on the right side of a 3-2 scoreline, owing to goals on the part of all of Jack Harrison, Rodrigo Moreno and Luke Ayling.
