Rangers sensation Leon King targeted by Newcastle and Manchester United

Newcastle and Man United to battle for King

Newcastle United are set to clash with Manchester United for the second time this season, but this time it won’t be on the pitch to avenge the 4-1 loss the Magpies suffered back on 11 September, rather, they will test the resolve of the Red Devils as the two clubs fight it out over Glasgow Rangers teenage sensation Leon King.

According to the Daily Record, King is out of contract in the summer despite the 17-year-old being tipped for an incredibly bright future at the Ibrox outfit, with the report citing Football Insider claims that both Newcastle and Man United are eyeing a move for the youngster.

King has already featured twice for Rangers’ first-team, and the Scottish U17 international center-back could soon be on to bigger and better things in the Premier League if either side proves capable of prying him away from his native surroundings.

Newcastle continue to target business

Leon King would just be one of a host of names that newly-purchased Newcastle are rumored to be interested in since the PIF-led conglomerate pried the club away from Mike Ashley.

Recent links with an astronomical offer for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé show the level of ambition the club is currently pushing for.

Additionally, other connections to a cadre of free agents have found their way into the bloodstream at St. James’ Park as links to Premier League quartet Jesse Lingard, James Tarkowski, Divock Origi, and Oleksandr Zinchenko have also been posited.

Though a move for King would signal a more long-term approach for the club’s building program, ready-made players that can come in and suit what new boss Eddie Howe aims to achieve on a tactical level would be prudent business, especially if it means a number of free deals for the club to avoid being sapped of some of their richest as clubs could look to sell to along the Tyne in a bid to extract maximum financial compensation.
