Rafa Benitez provides injury update on Everton’s Lucas Digne
Everton bested by QPR
Everton were in League Cup action on Tuesday evening vs Championship outfit, QPR.
The Toffees would head into the tie having made some changes to their regular eleven. However, they still had enough quality on the pitch and in the squad to get past their opponents.
Despite this, Rafa Benitez’s side were, in the end, sent packing by QPR. Charlie Austin opened the scoring for the hosts after 18 minutes.
Lucas Digne then drew Everton level after half an hour, but Austin was back at is again four minutes later to once again give QPR the lead.
Andros Townsend would then again draw Everton level two minutes into the second half, but the Merseysiders were unable to find a winner.
The tie then went straight to penalties after 90 minutes, with QPR coming out on top by a score of 8-7 in the shootout:

Lucas Digne injured
To compound a torrid evening for Everton, they appear to have suffered a big injury blow.
Lucas Digne, Everton’s only really decent senior left-back, was taken off after 80 minutes, with it suggested at the time that the Frenchman had an ankle injury:
Apparently TV commentators saying ankle injury for Digne. Uh oh

As a result, Everton fans were no doubt waiting with bated breath for an update on the defender from Rafa Benitez.
And, when speaking post-QPR, Benitez indeed provided an update, though, luckily for Everton fans, the boss does not seem to think it is that serious:
“I don’t think it is very serious. We will see when we check tomorrow.”
