The creators of the upcoming spin-off series “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” revealed the official teaser and air date on Tuesday. Taking to Instagram, OTT platform Netflix shared the teaser captioned: “A love story that changed the world. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, streaming May 4th only on Netflix. Save the date. ” The limited series is set to stream on the OTT Netflix platform from May 4, 2023, with the official trailer released today.

According to Deadline, a new US-based outlet, the Bridgerton-verse prequel centers around the rise and power of Queen Charlotte. The series will chronicle how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both great romance and societal change, creating the world of Ton inherited by Bridgerton’s characters. Shortly after the creators unveiled the teaser, fans flooded the comments section with red hearts and fire emoticons.

“Can’t say how long I’ve waited for this,” one fan commented. Another user wrote, “I can’t wait.”

Golda Rosheuvel will be seen taking on the role of the titular queen with India Amarteifio cast as a young Charlotte, a young woman on the verge of greatness but at a price. Also from the original series, Adjoa Andoh returns as Lady Agatha Danbury, Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton, and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley.

Arsema Thomas will make her television debut as young Agatha Danbury, Charlotte’s friend and confidante when Her Majesty needed guidance the most. Corey Mylchreest plays young King George, a handsome and charming royal with a mysterious past preventing him from giving himself fully to love. Queen Charlotte is part of the Bridgerton universe and is based on the popular Bridgerton show, which premiered on Netflix in December 2020 and has gained a huge following since then.
